Glen Esk

Conservation and

Refurbishment

Completed

2004

We were briefed to create a design that helped bring the life back into this charming old farm cottage whilst retaining its original character.  The owners felt that the bones were there, but that it needed just a little love and care to bring its full potential out into the open.

The cottage was stripped bear and completely refurbished with meticulous level  of attention paid to both the interior and exterior finishes to ensure the cottage remained much as it has always done, whilst appearing updated and restored.

There were some challenges in regards to this project, space being one of them.  Fortunately our creative team was able to create a solution that worked within the confines of what was possible within the space available to us.  Another challenge we overcame was implementing a working drainage system in ground which was quite rocky.  We were pleased to work around the issue and implement a working system, suitable for a cottage of its type.

The team throughly enjoyed working on the final layout of this one bedroom cottage with lounge, kitchen and bathroom whilst retaining the design aesthetic and general feel of a farm cottage with a lovely, inviting door.   Our client is happy with the result which of course makes us happy.
